Condolences on passing of Deon du Plessis

The South African Government has learnt with deep sadness of the death of Deon du Plessis, publisher of The Daily Sun.

His illustrious career spanned many years at a number of publications and he will be remembered for his outstanding contributions to the publishing industry and journalism in South Africa.

As the founder of The Daily Sun, Deon du Plessis ensured that many more South Africans were able to have access to news and entertainment, and that contributed significantly to changing the newspaper landscape in the country.

On behalf of the Government of South Africa, Cabinet Spokesperson and GCIS CEO Jimmy Manyi extended heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues in the media industry.
