Government condemns in strongest terms possible the heinous killing of police officers in the Western Cape. Four police officers have been killed in the province since the beginning of this month. It is with shock and sadness that these kind of tragic incidents are happening in this city.

Any attack and killing of police officers will not be tolerated. The law enforcement agencies will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that these perpetrators are brought to book and face the full might of the law.

We urge the members of the communities in Cape Town and the surrounding areas to work together with the police to track down the perpetrators. Any individual with information that would lead to arrest of these killers should contact their nearest police station.

GCIS Acting CEO, Phumla Williams has urged all the citizens of our country to respect the men and women in blue, as they protect our country and its inhabitants.

“As Government we express our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen officers”, said Williams.
