1.  Key Cabinet decisions

1.1.  Cabinet approved the plans to set up the Operation Phakisa Mining Lab, which will identify a set of concrete problems that are limiting the growth and developmental impact of the sector. The Mining Lab will also collaboratively develop plans to overcome these challenges. A four-week Mining Lab is scheduled for October 2015.

Cabinet Lekgotla photo opportunity and remarks: 27 Jul

Cabinet will hold its Lekgotla from the 27th to the 29 of July 2015 to review progress made in the implementation of the government programme of action.  The Cabinet Lekgotla will take place at the Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria.

Members of the media will be allowed a brief opportunity to take pictures of Cabinet members. This will be followed by an equally brief engagement with the Minister in the Presidency responsible for Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Jeff Radebe.

Deputy Minister of Communications successfully completed her 67-minute to honour Madiba at Ngubesizwe Senior Secondary School

Eastern Cape, Mthatha 21st July 2015. The Deputy Minister of Communications Stella Ndabeni Abrahams completed her 67-minute bit today, 21st July 2015. In partnership with the Eastern Cape Department of Agrarian Reform, Vodacom and Aids Council in the Eastern Cape.

The Mandela Day was on the 18th July but due to unforeseen circumstances and in order to avoid clash with earlier planned activities in the Eastern Cape for Saturday. The Tuesday, 21st July became a suitable date for this event to be conducted accordingly.

Acting Director-General of Communications to host Public Sector Mananger Forum on digital terrestrial television: 14 Jul

Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) will host a Public Sector Manager (PSM) Forum on Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

The Acting Director General of the department of Communications, Mr Ndivhuho Munzhelele will be the keynote speaker and he will be sharing the planned rollout of the Digital Migration project and its benefits to all South Africans.

The PSM Forum provides public service managers and various stakeholders with a platform to thoroughly engage with policy makers.

Government notes coroner's verdict on collapse of guest house owned by Synagogue Church of All Nations

Government notes and welcomes the conclusion of the coroner’s inquest, instituted by the Lagos State Government, to investigate the collapse of a guest house owned by the Synagogue Church of All Nations.

Government notes the ruling that the Synagogue Church of All Nations must be investigated and prosecuted for negligence which resulted in the deaths of 116 people, most of them South Africans.
