Minister Collins Chabane to present the GCIS Budget Vote speech: 9 May

Minister in the Presidency for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, as well as Administration, Collins Chabane will deliver the GCIS Budget Vote Speech in Parliament tomorrow.
As part of the activities, the Minister and Deputy Minister Oped Bapela will conduct an outreach programme to highlight the work of the GCIS and its entity, the MDDA.

Cessation of refugee status for Angolan refugees

Statement in Portuguese

Government encourages all Angolans who sought refuge in South Africa as a result  of the civil war in Angola, which ended in April 2002, to voluntarily avail themselves for repatriation.

South Africa recognises Angola as a democratic State that has made significant transitions since the end of the civil war.

Cabinet has declared that 31 August 2013 be set aside as the cessation date in South Africa for the affected Angolan refugees.

Government calls for respect to human dignity

South Africa is a democratic country governed by a Constitution that is anchored on a vision that promotes human dignity, human rights and freedom, non-racialism and non-sexism.
Government is therefore shocked and disappointed at the behaviour of members of the South African Democratic Teachers Union, who infringed on Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga’s right to human dignity and non-sexism by publicly displaying  a piece of underclothing attributed to her.
