1.  Cabinet’s position on prominent issues in the current environment

1.1. The 24th State of the Nation Address (SoNA) since the ushering in of democracy provided a critical end-of-term assessment on the implementation of government priorities for 2009-2014. The introduction of the outcomes system in 2009 enabled evidence-based and results-oriented monitoring of implementation to ensure that government delivered efficiently and effectively.

Health

Thank you for joining us this morning.

We have a good story to tell in the improvement of health care:  So said President Jacob Zuma in the State of the Nation Address.
Indeed we do have a good story to tell.

After democracy dawned on our Land in 1994, we had to start by abolishing 14 different health departments with different resources, different ethos and cultures, different qualities and actually worlds apart from each other.

Government invites the public to visit the “Building the Legacy” exhibition at the Tshwane Events Centre in Pretoria. The exhibition is part of the “20 years of Freedom” campaign. 

The exhibition opened in Tshwane on the 31st of January 2014 and has now been extended until 16 February 2014 due to increased demand. Visitors are welcome from 9am to 5pm every day.

Government has noted with concern a trend of using children as human shields during protests. This after a group of teenagers allegedly led a group of protesters who wanted to burn down a police station as well as other municipal offices in Bronkhorstspruit, near Pretoria.
