Members of the media are advised of the following arrangements for the Presidential Inauguration taking place on the 24 May 2014. There are space and movement limitations at the Nelson Mandela Amphitheatre and therefore not all the media will be accommodated during the event.

Sanlam and the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) have announced the finalists for the 2013 MDDA-Sanlam Local Media Awards following the conclusion of judging for both broadcast and print sections of the competition.
A total of 89 finalists have been selected from the 750 entries received for the 2013 Awards, with 64 for print and 24 in the broadcast section.

Government’s official plans for the Presidential Inauguration taking place on 24 May 2014 in the Nelson Mandela Amphitheatre at the Union Buildings are underway. Firstly, government wishes to clarify media reports on the budget allocation for the Presidential Inauguration.
In response to media questions last week about the cost of the Inauguration, government indicated at the time that the expenditure will be less than what has been spent on previous Inaugurations for different Presidents.

The security cluster Ministers have resolved to take the Public Protector’s report on the security upgrades installed in the private residence of the President (“the Nkandla report”) on judicial review by the High Court.
The grounds of the review will be fully canvassed in the review papers.
