Government welcomes Boeremag sentencing

29 Oct 2013

Government welcomes the sentencing of 20 Boeremag members who were convicted of high treason and given jail terms of between five and 30 years by North Gauteng High Court. The charge arose from a rightwing plot in the late 1990s and early 2000s to overthrow the government.

The decade-long trial, shows how the attainment for freedom and democracy, has changed the lives of the people in the country. South Africa is now a democratic country, which is safeguarded by the constitution across the world and the Bill of Rights.
