Cabinet received and noted the report of the panel of experts on the development of policy on the regulation of foreign land ownership in South Africa. The panel has recommended, among other things, the following:

Cabinet held its ordinary meeting this morning, 26 June 2007 in Pretoria.

The meeting received progress reports from Cabinet Committees on the implementation of Government’s Programme of Action. Cluster media briefings will be held during the week beginning 2 July, to inform the public about progress in implementing the programme.

Cabinet held its ordinary meeting in Cape Town this morning.

Cabinet noted the developments regarding the negotiations in the Public Service Bargaining Chamber and the nature and form of the public sector strike. The meeting noted that the negotiations were proceeding under the guidance of the mediators and an agreement should be reached soon.

At its ordinary meeting in Pretoria yesterday, 2 May 2007, Cabinet received and finalised progress reports from clusters on the implementation of the Programme of Action (POA) for 2007. Cabinet noted that Ministerial media briefings on the POA will be held during the week beginning 7 May 2007 in Pretoria.

Cabinet held its sixth meeting of the year yesterday morning, 18 April 2007, in Cape Town.

Cabinet approved the establishment of the Broadband Infrastructure Company (INFRACO) as a state-owned enterprise that will provide electronic communications network services. The non-core Fixed Services Network (FSN) assets of Eskom Ltd and Transnet Ltd will be transferred to INFRACO.
