Government saddened by Hoerskool Driehoek accident

Government sends heartfelt condolences and message of sympathy to families of the children who died tragically at Hoërskool Driehoek in Vanderbijl, Sedibeng when a walkway fell on them.

It is sad and tragic that children had to die in this manner in a school environment. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims of this tragic incident. The provincial Department of Education is providing much-needed support to the school as well as the injured learners.

Government to host official memorial service for former Ambassador Dumisani Kumalo, 24 Jan

Government will hold a memorial service in honour of former Ambassador Dumisani Kumalo, who served as Permanent Representative of South Africa to the United Nations in New York from 1999 to 2009.

The Official funeral service will take place on Saturday, 26 January 2019 from 08h30 at Calvary Methodist Church, Harry Galaun Dr & Halfway Gardens, Midrand in Johannesburg.

South African media invited to enter the 2019 SADC Media Awards competition

The South African media are invited to submit their entries for the 2019 SADC Media Awards competition.

The Awards were established following a decision by the Council of Ministers in 1996 to establish a sector that deals with matters relating to amongst others, information, culture and sport. These awards serve as part of ensuring a link, coordination and synchronisation between formal structures of SADC governments, civil society, academia, labour and the media.
