1.1 Cabinet is concerned with the rising incidences of abuse and violence against women in our society. Recent incidents involving intimate partner violence have seen many brave and courageous women speaking out against this violation of their rights.

Minister Dlodlo and Deputy Minister Mahambehlala Community Engagements ahead of the 2017/18 Budget Vote
As part of the pre-Budget Vote stakeholder engagements, the Minister of Communications, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo will tomorrow, 25 May 2017 deliver a public lecture at False Bay FET College in Khayelitsha under the theme: The role that our history plays in building a better Africa and a better world.
GCIS has noted the reports that suggest that Ms Siyasanga Mbambani has been suspended by the department on sexual harassment charges. GCIS wishes to correct the record. Ms Mbambani is not suspended.

Cabinet met on Wednesday, 26 April 2017, at the Union Buildings, on the eve of the 23rd national Freedom Day celebrations. President Jacob Zuma chaired the Cabinet meeting, which welcomed the new Members of the Executive who further complement the existing leadership in government in spear heading implementation of government’s Programme of Action for radical economic transformation and inclusive socio-economic growth.

In commemoration of Freedom Day, celebrated on the 27th April 2017, the Minister of Communications will host a dialogue with learners from various schools in Gauteng.
The purpose of the dialogue is to start on-going discussions with the Youth on what it means for them to “OWN YOUR FREEDOM” and also cover those areas that are working well and equally those areas that they feel are not working well and would like to see improvements from Government and Corporate South Africa.
