The Secretariat of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) will convene a one day media workshop in Johannesburg.

The purpose of this one-day workshop is to enhance awareness of the media on the SADC Industralisation Strategy, strengthen the SADC Secretariats partnerships with the media within SADC Member States, and establish the role the media can play in communicating SADC industralisation issues.

Government will host a media briefing to update on the arrangements for the memorial service and funeral of the late Mr Ronnie Mamoepa. President Jacob Zuma has declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral for the highly regarded government communicator, accomplished public servant and freedom fighter, Mr Ronnie Mamoepa.

Minister of Communications, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo will lead a memorial service of government communicators and members of the media on Wednesday, 26th July 2017 to celebrate the life of the late Mr Ronnie Mamoepa who died on Saturday, 22 July 2017.

To government communicators as well as members of the media, Mr Mamoepa was a colleague, a leader and a mentor whose life is worth celebrating.

Government Communication and Information System will on Wednesday, 26 July 2017 hold a Memorial Service in honour of the veteran government communicator, Mr Ronnie Mamoepa who passed away on Saturday, 22 July 2017.

The memorial service will be attended by the Minister of Communications, Ayanda Dlodlo, the GCIS management and government communicators from three spheres of government.

The Department of Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) in partnership with the Capricorn District and Polokwane Municipalities, Limpopo Provincial Government and SAMSUNG Mobile SA will commemorate Mandela Day with stakeholders in Moletjie Thusong Service Centre in Limpopo, under the theme: “Take Action against Poverty and Gender-Based Violence, inspire change and make everyday a Mandela Day”.

Government is saddened by the passing of some of the pre-eminent members of our media fraternity, the most recent being two employees of our Public Broadcaster, Ms Suna Venter and field camerawoman Ms Zama Mbalo.  Their passing follows the recent deaths of Mr Johann Botha and veteran photographer Mr  Ranjith Kally.
