Government encourages citizens to tell their stories during Heritage Month

September marks Heritage Month to celebrate and embrace the country’s historical inheritance, languages, diverse cultures, sacred sites, indigenous food and traditional art forms. The launch of Heritage Month that took place yesterday at Freedom Park saw diverse audiences, cultural groups and story tellers revelling and showing pride of their unique traditions.

South Africa takes the lead in Stockholm

Government congratulates the eThekwini Metro for scooping the Stockholm Industry Water Award and Professor John Briscoe of South Africa for receiving the prestigious Stockholm Water Prize. Government is equally proud of the learners from Taxila Secondary School in Polokwane, Limpopo who were finalists, at the global conference, against other learners across the globe for inventing a method that uses sand filters to treat contaminated water and recover water for reuse.

The Vaal uprising to host Tell Your Story event as part of commemorating 30 years anniversary: 3 Sept

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Vaal Uprising, the Sedibeng District, Emfuleni, Lesedi and Midvaal Municipalities will be spearheading the 30th Anniversary Commemorations of the historic 3rd September 1984 Uprising in the Vaal under the theme 'Reclaiming and Rebuilding the Historical Legacy of the Vaal'”. The purpose is to underline the Vaal’s unique role in the history of South Africa’s struggle for liberation and democracy.
