Government Post-State of the Nation Address media briefings: 15-19 Feb

Government will hold cluster media briefings on the implementation of the Government Programme of Action for 2015 post the State of the Nation Address.

The briefings are scheduled as follows:

Film and Publication Board Back-2-School campaign launch: 10 Feb

On 10 February 2015, the Film and Publication Board in conjunction with the Department of Communications, Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services, Digital You, Childline SA, Google, Media Monitoring Africa, SaveTNet and UNISA Youth Research Unit, will launch their Back-2-School campaign as part of Safer Internet Day commemoration.

Members of the media are invited to the launch, where they will be addressed by the CEO Mr Themba P Wakashe. The details of the launch are below.

Accreditation for arrival of mortal remains from Nigeria: 3 Feb

Members of the media who will be covering the arrival ceremony of the mortal remains of the victims of the Nigeria building collapse are requested to apply for accreditation.

Journalists and photographers are advised to confirm their attendance by filling all the required fields in the attached form.

The expected time of arrival of the plane from Lagos, Nigeria is 02h00 at Waterkloof Airforce Base  on Friday, 6 February 2014.  We will constantly communicate with the media on the developments.

Media briefing on South Africian repatriation team heading to Nigeria

Fellow South Africans
Good morning,

It has been over four months since our country experienced one of the biggest tragedies since the birth of our young democracy in 1994.  The lives of eighty-one South African families were changed forever on 12 September 2014, when a multi-storey guesthouse that belongs to the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Lagos, Nigeria, collapsed.   A sense of grief and shock engulfed the nation.
