1. Cabinet’s position on current issues

1.1 Cabinet welcomes the launch by President Jacob Zuma of Operation Phakisa, which fast-tracks delivery through detailed implementation plans, problem-solving and practical actions to drive growth. The Department of Environmental Affairs will be the first department to lead collaboration with the industry, labour, civil society and academia to work together to unlock the economic potential of our oceans.

Government wishes Team SA well

South Africa has sent a 187 strong member team to participate in the 2014 Commonwealth Games taking place from 23 July to 3 August 2014 in Glasgow City, Scotland. The games are another chance for South Africans to rally behind our sporting heroes and heroines. 
Sporting events have always served to unite the country as was the case during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the 2012 Olympics and the 2013 Orange Africa Cup of Nations and the recently held African Championship of Nations.

Minister Muthambi to conclude Imbizo Focus Week with a clean-up in Limpopo: 19-20 Jul

Minister of Communications Faith Muthambi will be concluding her activities for the Imbizo Focus Week by meeting with communities and participating in clean up campaigns in Giyani and Malamulele in Limpopo this weekend. The focus week was launched on 13 July at Vhembe District Municipality. A total of 48 events took place thus far during the Imbizo Focus Week with many focused around the Mandela Day clean-up campaigns.

South Africans thanked for ‘clean-up’ initiatives

Government thanks all South Africans, from all sectors, for working together and dedicating 67 minutes of their time to clean up their surroundings.

The main objective of Nelson Mandela International Day is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better.  President Jacob Zuma led a clean-up campaign in the Eastern Cape. This was accompanied by several other clean-up initiatives by government departments, private organisations and communities at large.
