Media statement in regard to the decision of the Western Cape High Court dated the 24 October 2014.
The decision of the Western Cape High court today, the 24th of October 2014, on the matter which was brought by the Democratic Alliance against the SABC and the Minister of Communications vindicated the position of the Minister to the effect that the Public Protector’s findings, remedial action and recommendations are not final and binding.

It is over a month since the collapse of the building in Nigeria that left 116 people dead. Amongst these eighty one (81) are believed to be South Africans and a total of 85 bodies to be repatriated (3 Zimbabwean & 1 DRC Nationals travelling with South African passports are included on the request by their respective governments).

Deputy Minister of Communications Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will on Thursday 23 October 2014 host stakeholder engagement in Kimberly, Northern Cape. This visit which will encompass sessions with government communicators and the media is a continuation of the Deputy Minister’s efforts to engage with sector stakeholders in various provinces. To date the Deputy Minister has held engagements in six provinces.

The Minister was speaking at the end of Indoni Cultural Festival which was held in Durban from 10 to 11 October in Durban. The festival is sponsored by among others, the SABC and Department of Arts and Culture.
