Marikana Commission of Inquiry appoints Secretary

The Marikana Commission of Inquiry is pleased to announce the appointment of Advocate Phuti Setati as the Secretary of the Commission with effect from today. Advocate Setati brings to the Commission a wealth of legal experience honed at the office of the State Law Adviser where he has served as Senior State Law Adviser.

Government and COSATU extend consultation on Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project


5 October 2012

The Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project (GFIP) met with the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) at the Union Buildings, Pretoria, today.

Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe and COSATU President Sidumo Dlamini respectively led the government and labour delegations at the meeting, which followed a 20 July 2012 consultation.

The meeting agreed that more time was needed for both parties to consider the proposals on the table.The meeting will reconvene in a week’s time.

The MDDA notes the launch of the Print and Digital Media Transformation Task team (PDMTT) initiated by the Print and Digital Media SA (PDMSA).

This is against the background of the Parliamentary Print Media Transformation Indaba which was held on Monday (18 June 2012) at ICASA, where the Portfolio Committee on Communications noted that print media transformation needed to be fast-tracked to ensure the print media industry was a mirror of the present democratic dispensation.
