Enquiries concerning the Nkandla Development Project

Government has noted that some members of the media have been asking departments to provide information concerning their involvement or financial contribution to the Nkandla Development Project.

The 2011/2012 financial year has been completed and government departments are in the process of finalizing their Annual Reports.  Information concerning any project undertaken by departments and budget expenditure will be outlined in these reports.

The President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma has declared Thursday, 23 August, as the official day for memorial services to be held to mourn and promote a violence-free society.

The Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Marikana tragedy, led by Minister in The Presidency Collins Chabane working together with religious leaders, mine workers and other stakeholders, will  be holding an official memorial service for victims of the Marikana tragedy.

The memorial service will be conducted and led by the religious leadership. The memorial is expected to be attended by ministers, religious leaders, traditional leaders, mine workers and members of the community.
