Government to engage business, civil society on flood disaster: 23 Jan

The Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will on Saturday, 22 January 2011, meet with stakeholders from business and civil society.

The aim of the meeting is to discuss ways of collaboration with the view of lobbying business and civil society to provide relief and assistance to victims of the flood disaster across the country.

This is part of government's efforts to mobilise various stakeholders to assist people affected by the recent floods.

Minister of Health, Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi on H1N1 influenza pandemic

As part of its regular Cabinet meetings, Cabinet met yesterday and among the issues discussed was the current H1N1 Influenza pandemic.  Cabinet decided to mount an enhanced national response to build on what has already been done so far by the Department, the Department Education, NICD and the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Country Office.

As the lead Department, the Department of Health wishes to outline what it is doing in this regard.

Statement on Cabinet meeting of 10 March 2010

Cabinet held its ordinary meeting in Cape Town yesterday, 10 March 2010.

Cabinet welcomed and approved the implementation plan to scale up the HIV and AIDS prevention and treatment programme that was presented by the Minister of Health.  This approval follows President Jacob Zuma’s announcement on World AIDS Day on 1 December 2009 that the fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic would be scaled up in partnership with all stakeholders in the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC).
