Dr Xuma’ s reburial will take place on Sunday, 8 March 2020 at Kwa Manzana Village in Engcobo, Eastern Cape. He passed away in January 1962 and was buried at the Brixton Cemetery in Johannesburg

The article casts aspersions on the work of government on the repatriation process of South African nationals from Wuhan, China by an unnamed source.

NATJOINTS update on repatriation process of South African citizens in Wuhan

A week ago the President announced the decision to repatriate South Africans currently residing in Wuhan.  The decision was prompted by their request to be repatriated back home.  Subsequent to this announcement a multidisciplinary team of Ministers (Health, Social Development, SAPS, Home Affairs, DIRCO and SANDF) was constituted. This team is supported operationally by the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) which has commenced with the logistical arrangements.

Update on the Special Official Funeral of the late DR Joseph Shabalala

Government wishes to update South Africans and the world on the preparation for the Special Official Funeral service of the late musician Dr Joseph Shabalala who passed away on, 11th February 2020.

The funeral service of Dr Shabalala will start at 08h30 on Saturday, 22 February 2020 at the Ladysmith Indoor Sports Centre and he will be laid to rest at Ladysmith Cemetery.

Correction of Dr Shabalala birth year

Government has noted the extensive media coverage about the death of Dr Joseph Shabalala and his legendary music career during the build up to his official funeral, taking place on Saturday. It was also noted that his year of birth was reported incorrectly by the media. 

It must be placed on record that Dr Shabalala was born on 28 August 1940 and not in 1941. All media are requested to urgently correct the error.

1.1. Cabinet welcomes the 2020 SoNA delivered by President Cyril Ramaphosa at a Joint Sitting of the two houses in Parliament, Cape Town on Thursday, 13 February 2020. The address was delivered following the 30th anniversary of the release of the Father of the Nation, Tata Madiba, who walked free from Victor Verster Prison on 11 February 1990.
