Government calls on members of society to join it in making safety, care and protection of children a priority, as South Africa observes Child Protection Week from 02 to 09 June 2019.

Observed under the theme: “Let Us Protect Children to Move South Africa Forward”, the 22nd Anniversary of the Child Protection Week campaign comes at the time when South Africa has seen atrocious abuse and violence against children.

South Africa will inaugurate its sixth democratically elected President after the national general elections. The Presidential Inauguration will take place in Pretoria which is the national seat of government. The theme for the inauguration is: “Together Celebrating Democracy: Renewal and Growth for a Better South Africa”. It reinforces that everyone has a role to play in building a brighter tomorrow.

Members of the public are advised on the following arrangements for transportation and access to the stadium on the day of the inauguration. The inauguration will be held under the theme – “Together celebrating democracy: Renewal and growth for a better South Africa” on 25 May 2019 at Loftus Versveld.

Buses transporting people from: Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, and Free State are expected to arrive early. The buses will drop people at the vicinity of the stadium and then proceed to park at Tshwane Events Centre.

The Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Presidential Inauguration led by the Minister in the Presidency, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, will host a media briefing on the state of readiness to host the 2019 Presidential Inauguration.

South Africa will on 25 May 2019 host the Inauguration Ceremony of its 6th President-Elect. This follows the successful Provincial and General Election process held on 8 May 2019 and the announcement of the results.

Government together with all social partners will tackle unemployment

14 May 2019

The Statistician-General of South Africa, Risenga Maluleke has today released the first quarter labour force survey. The survey indicates that the level of unemployment has increased to 27.6%.  The increase in the unemployment rate is a result of decline of 237 000 in the number of people in employment and an increase of 62 000 in the number of people who were unemployed between the fourth quarter of 2018 and the first quarter of 2019.
