Government has scheduled the following briefings/activities for the week: 11 – 17 March 2019. The activities, which are aligned to the National Development Plan and outlined in the Medium Term Strategic Framework 2014-2019, are undertaken to build a better South Africa.

Government leaders from all three spheres of government which includes Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Premiers, MECs and senior government officials will tomorrow, 08 March 2019 embark on the clean-up campaign as part of the Good Green Deeds programme.
This ground-breaking national initiative that seeks to change people’s attitudes and behaviours towards responsible management of waste will be officially launched tomorrow by President Cyril Ramaphosa tomorrow at Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape.

Government welcomes the news that South Africa has won the rights to host the 16th staging of the Netball World Cup in 2023 which will take place in Cape Town. Being the host country is a monumental moment for South Africa as it is the first time the Netball World Cup will be held in Africa. African countries play a leading role in the top 20 International Netball Federation world ranking.
Government calls on all citizens and sectors including business, labour, academic, faith-based organisations and NGOs to heed the call made by President Cyril Ramaphosa during the State of the Nation Address, which seeks to galvanize all South Africans to join hands with government to clean-up the country and contribute to solving the global and national environmental challenges.

Government notes and welcomes the sentences handed over to the two men convicted of killing Coligny teenager Matlhomola Moshoeu.
The North West High Court sentenced Pieter Doorewaard and Phillip Schutte to an effective 18 and 23 years respectively for killing Moshoeu whom they accused of stealing sunflower seeds worth R80 from a farm.

Government congratulates investigators and prosecutors and all those who worked on securing yet another victory in the fight against Gender-Based-Violence with the conviction and subsequent sentencing of convicted murderer Jason Rohde in the Western Cape High Court on Wednesday.
Rohde was handed 18 years for the murder of his wife Susan at the Spier Estate in July 2016, and five years for obstructing the course of justice.
The country is battling with incidents of gender-based violence on a daily basis.
