Government is disappointed at reports of learners being taken out of schools, damage to public infrastructure, business properties and the disruption of public transport in and around the City of Tshwane. Such acts have no place in our constitutional democracy. These actions undermine the democratic rights of other South Africans.

The Constitution of our country says every person in South Africa has a right to protest, as long it is done in a peaceful manner.

The University of South Africa (UNISA) has invited the Minister of Communications, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo to deliver the keynote address at the UNISA Annual Media Conference taking place on the 4^th of August 2017.  Minister Dlodlo will speak in line with the theme of the conference “The role of the media in conflict escalation”.

The Secretariat of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) will convene a one day media workshop in Johannesburg.

The purpose of this one-day workshop is to enhance awareness of the media on the SADC Industralisation Strategy, strengthen the SADC Secretariats partnerships with the media within SADC Member States, and establish the role the media can play in communicating SADC industralisation issues.

Government will host a media briefing to update on the arrangements for the memorial service and funeral of the late Mr Ronnie Mamoepa. President Jacob Zuma has declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral for the highly regarded government communicator, accomplished public servant and freedom fighter, Mr Ronnie Mamoepa.

Minister of Communications, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo will lead a memorial service of government communicators and members of the media on Wednesday, 26th July 2017 to celebrate the life of the late Mr Ronnie Mamoepa who died on Saturday, 22 July 2017.

To government communicators as well as members of the media, Mr Mamoepa was a colleague, a leader and a mentor whose life is worth celebrating.
