Minister Mokonyane and Deputy Minister Kekana deliver 2018/19 Communications Dept Budget Vote, 10 May

9 May 2018

On the 10th of May 2018, Minister of Communications, Ms Nomvula Mokonyane and Deputy Minister Pinkie Kekana will table the department’s 2018/19 Budget Vote in Parliament.

Through the Budget Vote speech the Minister will demonstrate how the budget will be utilised to support annual strategic targets to ensure that the department delivers on its mandate.

The Minister will also report back on the work done by the department, its entities as well as GCIS in the past financial year.

Inter-Ministerial Committee on cooperation of North West provincial executive

The Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) appointed by Cabinet to establish facts on the ground in the North West Province has noted with concern media reports insinuating that the provincial executive has been uncooperative in particular the Premier.  The media reports are not only misleading but also far from the actual experience of the IMC.

Inter-Ministerial Committee briefs media on Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu centenary celebrations: 8 May

The Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on the centenary celebrations of Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu chaired by Minister Jeff Radebe will hold a media briefing to unpack the Comprehensive National Programme developed by the IMC and provide progress on its implementation. The briefing will also announce on key activities planned in celebrations of both Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu.

Ministerial Task Team visits North West Province

4 May 2018

The Ministerial Task Team will visit the North West Province in preparation following the decision of Cabinet to invoke Section 100(1) (b) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa of 1996 to address the apparent crisis, particularly in the health sector.

The Ministers in the Task Team are; the Ministers of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (Convener); Health; Finance; Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, as well as the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster of Ministers.

The Minister of Communications, Ms Nomvula Mokonyane will on Friday, 04 May 2018, meet with Mamelodi FM and Poort FM as part of the community radio outreach activities. The meeting will also be attended by Sentech, Media Development and Diversity (MDDA) and the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA).
