Youth Month kicks off in full force

Government calls on all South Africans to commemorate Youth Month, under the theme ,“Youth moving South Africa forward”.
Today, the National Youth Development Agency will officially launch Youth Month at the Uncle Tom’s Hall and Hector Pieterson Museum, Orlando West, Soweto. The launch, which will be followed by month-long activities and programmes, will be addressed by the Minister in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe and his deputy Buti Manamela and Minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthetwa.
Fake social media accounts

Government wishes to clarify that people wanting to follow developments around the new Cabinet on social media are advised to access their Twitter and Facebook accounts via the respective departmental websites.
Government Communications is aware that a number of fake accounts have emerged following President Jacob Zuma’s announcement of the new National Executive. These accounts are established under the pretext of being official accounts using the South African Coat of Arms and/or names of appointed ministers.
Government will not tolerate child abuse

Government has noted recent media reports which highlight the abuse of children and women . In the recent incidence neighbors suspected some wrong doing for a while. As government we thank those members of society that alerted the law enforcement agencies.

I am pleased to join you on Africa Day, as we conclude our transition to a new administration following the fifth national general elections.
I announced on Saturday that we have entered the second phase of our transition to a national democratic society. I also said this would be a radical phase of socio-economic transformation.

South Africa joins the rest of the African continent and the world in commemorating Africa Day today, 25 May 2014. This significant day marks the anniversary of the formation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) now known as African Union (AU) by 32 governments in 1963. Twenty other nations gradually joined the founder states over time. South Africa became the 53rd member of the AU on 23 May 1994.

PHOTOS DISSEMINATION
A total of 12 select photographers have been selected to shoot pool pictures at the Amphitheatre which will be shared with all media. The GCIS has deployed two librarians to share the pictures with all media at the Media Centre on the Southern Lawns.

Members of the media are advised of the following arrangements for the Presidential Inauguration taking place on the 24 May 2014. There are space and movement limitations at the Nelson Mandela Amphitheatre and therefore not all the media will be accommodated during the event.
