Government congratulates the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for winning a Standard Bank Top Women Award in the category of Top Gender Empowered Government Departments. The department’s win was announced at the gala dinner event at Emperors Palace on Thursday, 18 August.

The prestigious award goes to the government department that clearly and effectively demonstrates the highest level of gender empowerment, from staff to suppliers, through its programmes and policies.

Minister in the Presidency responsible for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Mr Jeff Radebe, will hold a media briefing to outline the outcomes of the Cabinet Lekgotla that ends today.

Cabinet held its Lekgotla from the 16th to the 19th of August 2016 at Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria.

Government congratulates track sprinter Wayde van Niekerk for setting a new world record in the men’s 400 meters category at the Rio Olympics. Van Niekerk won the 400 meters in an astonishing 43.03 seconds and is reported to be the first man to win the Olympic gold from lane 8.

It is exactly four  days before the 2016 Local Government Elections take place on the 3rd of August.  We encourage all eligible voters, particularly the youth to come out on Wednesday and vote, and welcome voters in Vuwani who have committed to express their voice peacefully through the ballot.
