Government will embark on the first National Imbizo Focus Week of the new administration from 14 - 20 July 2014. The Izimbizo programme ensures constant engagements between the National Executive and communities and is one of the government communication platforms deepening citizen involvement in all aspects of public life. The programme has since developed into a popular and trusted platform for unmediated communication between government and the public.

Government takes the reins in fight to end corruption

9 July 2014

Government’s commitment to clamp down and eradicate corruption has begun yielding results. This comes after telling interventions by government departments to end the cycle of corruption, with the most recent being the dismissal of 70 police officers in the past six months. The police officers were dismissed for corruption, attempted murder, armed robbery, defeating the ends of justice and assault amongst others.

The Ministerial Enquiry on Lwandle evictions led by Advocate Denzel Potgieter SC will on Monday, 30 June 2014, brief members of the media on the progress and operations of the enquiry.

Minister of Human Settlements Lindiwe Sisulu established the Ministerial Enquiry on 4 June 2014 to look into the recent evictions effected by the South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) on the members of the informal settlement of Nomzamo (Lwandle), located in the City of Cape Town in the Western Cape.
