Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande, has noted with concern the calls from some sectors of students for no fee increase for all for the 2017 academic year. The Minister is equally concerned by the escalating violent protests taking place, particularly at the University of Witwatersrand, by fringe and rogue elements exploiting the situation through acts of hooliganism and criminality for their perverse agenda.

We meet during the month of September when our country is celebrating Public Service Month, Heritage Month and Tourism Month. As government we are also celebrating Thusong Service Centre Week during this month.

Government embarked on a third year anniversary of the Thusong Service Center Annual Week from Monday, 19 September 2016. The closing event of the week will take place on the Friday, 23 September 2016 at KwaZanele Community Hall, Breyten in Mpumalanga Province.

The campaign was running the whole week under the theme: Moving the Public Service Forward: “We Belong, We Care, We Serve”.

Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr BE Nzimande will today engage with community listeners on fee adjustment on various community radio stations.

Communities, parents and students are encouraged to tune-in to the following radio stations between 18h00 – 19h00 in the evening and engage with the Minister by dialing 0800 314 446.

The Phone-in programme will be broadcast live on the following Community Radio Stations.

Governance and Administration Cluster (G&A) to brief media on on implimentation of National Development Plan (NDP)

The Minister of Public Service and Administration, Advocate Ngoako Ramatlhodi, in his capacity as Chairperson of the G&A Cluster, will lead a media briefing to give an update on the progress made in the implementation of the cluster’s Programme of Action (PoA) towards achieving the goals of the NDP: Vision 2030.

Deputy Minister of Communications, Ms Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will, on Monday 19 September 2016, officially launch the Annual ‘Thusong Service Centre Week’ in Mossel Bay’s Thusong Service Centre, Western Cape.

The Deputy Minister will be joined by Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr John Jeffery at the opening event.

The Annual ‘Thusong Service Centre Week’ was piloted in September 2014 and highlights government services offered to communities across the country.

Minister of Communications Ms Faith Muthambi to address the first inaugural Annual General Meeting of the Eersterus Community Radio at the Civic Centre in Eersterus, East of Pretoria on the 16th of September.  ”Governance and sustainability of Community broadcasting is one of our key priorities as the Department”, said Muthambi.
