On 12 November 2014 the Minister of Communications, Honourable Faith Muthambi released a Gazette 38206 in terms of section 3(2) of the Broadcasting Act (No. 4 of 1999) stating her intentions to undertake a comprehensive broadcasting policy review.
The Minister requests the members of the public and industry to submit issues for consideration during this process. Issues to be included for submission can include, but not limited to:

Government is concerned by the unwarranted destruction of public property and the provocative confrontation by asylum seekers towards members of the police that occurred outside Customs House on the Foreshore – a regional Home Affairs building in Cape Town. Government condemns such actions as they breach both the spirit and letter of South African law.

Government is disappointed with the Mail & Guardian’s attempt to discredit the collaborative efforts of the South African and Nigerian governments to repatriate the bodies of South Africans that died in Nigeria. Government places it on record that no form of bartering with Nigeria was conducted during the repatriation process.

Members of the media are invited to apply for media accreditation for the commemoration of the first anniversary of passing away of former president Nelson Mandela.
Members of the media are advised that the pre-accreditation online registration process is accessible on https://www.doc.gov.za/content/media-registration. The deadline for the pre-accreditation process is Wednesday, 03 December 2014 at 15h00.

On Friday 28 November, Deputy Minister Stella Ndabeni- Abrahams will attend the Gagasi FM annual stakeholder gala dinner at Umhlanga Rocks in Durban where she will give a key note address. After the key note address, she will go to the South African National Civic Association of South Africa (SANCO) gala dinner in Durban as a guest.
