Cabinet held its ordinary meeting in Pretoria yesterday, 8th October 2008.
Cabinet received a detailed report on the limited outbreak of the suspected hemorrhagic fever in Gauteng which has claimed three lives. Firstly, Government wishes to convey condolences to the families and friends of the deceased. Cabinet is satisfied that the health authorities and health professionals have responded quickly, appropriately and with the highest levels of professionalism to contain the suspected virus.

Cabinet held its ordinary meeting in Pretoria yesterday, 3 September 2008.
Cabinet approved the new Automotive Production and Development Programme (APDP) which will replace the Motor Industry Development Programme (MIDP). The Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Mandisi Mpahlwa, will join me at the end of this briefing to present the details of the new programme.

President Thabo Mbeki - Outcome of July Cabinet lekgotla

1. Introduction
Cabinet’s mid-year Lekgotla took place in Pretoria from 22 to 24 July 2008. The meeting was attended by Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Premiers, Directors- General and representatives of the South African Local Government Association (Salga).
The meeting also welcomed Mr Kgalema Motlanthe, who was attending the Lekgotla for the first time since his appointment as Minister in The Presidency.

Cabinet held its ordinary meeting in Tshwane this morning, 22 July 2008. This meeting preceded the July Cabinet Lekgotla.
President Thabo Mbeki formally welcomed Mr Kgalema Motlanthe to his first Cabinet meeting and Mr Motlanthe was warmly received by his Cabinet colleagues. Mr Motlanthe will be a Minister in the Presidency (leader of Government Business).
