Cabinet held its scheduled virtual meeting today, Wednesday 21 September 2022, to discuss a number of pertinent issues that will be outlined in the comprehensive Cabinet Statement to be released at a later stage.
Cabinet also discussed the problem of load-shedding that has over the past week disrupted the economic activities of businesses and inconvenienced households in the country.

Update on procurement process for renewable energy IPP procurement programme (REIPPPP) bid window 6 (BW 6)

Government announced the amended Request for Proposal (RFP) to increase the MW allocation under the REIPPPP Bid Window (BW) 6 in response to the announcement by the President on 25 July 2022. The capacity to be procured currently under BW 6 will now increase from 2600MW to 4200MW. This follows the conclusion of all required governance approvals, including Eskom approval.

The Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele has published a notice in a government gazette (Gazette number) calling on the public and interested stakeholders to work with the MAC Charter Council make oral and written inputs to review the current MAC Sector Code.
The MAC Charter Council, which is directed towards ensuring that transformation in the sector, is promoted, monitored and reported on annually in line with the provisions of the Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment Act of 2003, as amended.
