Government saddened by Athule Mazula's passing

The government extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Athule Mazula, a young, bright and optimistic journalist.

Mazula was a community media worker at Cape Town TV and worked closely with the Cape Town Daily News at the time of her death. Community media is essential in providing community oriented content that is diverse and serves communities in rural areas and small towns.

Media accreditation for Western Cape Presidential Imbizo

Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) calls on members of the media wishing to cover the forthcoming Presidential Imbizo to apply for accreditation.  The Presidential Imbizo is scheduled to take place on Friday, 19 May 2023 at Dal Josafat Athletics Stadium, Paarl in the Western Cape Province.

Preceding the Imbizo is a series of build-up outreach activities led by Ministers, MECs and Mayors in parts of Cape Winelands District Municipality and across the Western Cape Province.  Media advisories will be issued for each of these activities.

1.1. Cabinet acknowledged the attainment of the R1.2 trillion investment mobilisation goal  that was set by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2018. Investment commitments made at the 5th South Africa Investment Conference enabled government to exceed the set target by R300 billion.

Government Communications saddened by death of three journalists

The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) is deeply saddened by the death of three South African journalists.  Within a short time frame, South Africa lost News Free State editor Teboho Letshaba, veteran SABC News Sepedi Radio Current Affairs Producer and Presenter Matome Maupi in Limpopo, and former EWN reporter in Cape Town, Graig-Lee Smith.
