The South African National Editors Forum (SANEF) in partnership with the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) and the National Department of Health wishes to call on all journalists to get vaccinated following the Health Ministry’s announcement today that the media sector can go get vaccinated at their nearest vaccination site.

South Africa congratulates Mr Patrick O’leary for his SADC Media Awards entry which won second prize in the photo category of the regional competition. The award was announced on 17 August by the outgoing Chairperson of SADC, His Excellency Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique, during the opening ceremony of the 41st SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government taking place in the Republic of Malawi.
Government will today, 17 August hold a media briefing to give an update on the Marikana Reparations. The briefing will be led by the Solicitor General, Fhedzisani Pandelani from the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development.

The GCIS is deeply saddened to hear about the untimely passing away of one of government’s communication foot soldier, Mr Sidwell Medupe, the Spokesperson and Head of Communication at the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition. He passed away this morning due to COVID-19 complications.

Joint statement by GCIS and SANEF on opening of vaccination programme for journalists
The South African National Editors Forum (SANEF) in partnership with the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) and the National Department of Health wishes to call on all journalists to get vaccinated following the Health Ministry’s announcement today that the media sector can go get vaccinated at their nearest vaccination site.
Members of the media are invited to a media briefing by the Acting Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni. The Minister will give an update on government interventions to rebuild the economy and address various issues following the violent protests that took place in some parts of South Africa.

Government wishes to advise the nation regarding further details on the Special Official Funeral of the late Ikosi Sipho Mahlangu who passed away on Friday, 16th July 2021.
President Ramaphosa has declared that the Funeral of Ikosi Mahlangu will be conducted in line with protocols of the Special Official Funeral Category 1 which includes military honours.

The Government Communication and Information System in partnership with Agape Youth Movement will host a Mandela Month panel discussion on active and responsible citizenry.
The panel discussion is aimed at developing a strong moral code in individuals and discuss the importance of creating a safe, supportive society while protecting democracy and to instil the values as embodied by the former late President Mandela and celebrate his legacy.
Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the panel discussion.
