Today, as the global community commemorates International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, the South African government adds it voice to the call for the protection of journalists’ rights, especially during a time when the country is preparing to host another round of national elections.
Minister in The Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni will brief media on the outcomes of the Cabinet meeting held on, Wednesday, 01 November 2023.
The media briefing will not take place on Thursday as per usual, instead it will take place on Monday, 06 November 2023 due to two important events taking place- President Ramaphosa welcoming the Springboks and the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum.

When the invitation came for me to address the third OR Tambo Memorial Lecture, I was not certain if I was the best person to deliver this lecture.
Government wishes the Class of 2023 success in the National Senior Certificate examinations which commences tomorrow (30th October 2023). Over 717 377 full time candidates, 181 143 part-time candidates in the public education system alone are registered to write the final examinations across 6,898 centres nationwide. At the end of this examination period, the Class of 2023 will have collectively written 207 exam papers.
Government joins millions of South Africans, Africans and Springbok fans from across the globe in congratulating the World Rugby 2023 champions. In this record breaking victory, the Springboks showed determination, creativity and strength against New Zealand’s All Blacks.
Our unwavering confidence in the Springboks was symbolised by the presence of President Cyril Ramaphosa in France to help our champions to lift the Webb Ellis trophy.

The lecture is hosted to celebrate the life of anti-apartheid activist, teacher, and longest-serving president of the African National Congress, Oliver Reginald Tambo under the theme: Reclaiming Africa’s Intellectual Futures.
