Justice Crime Prevention and Security Cluster welcomes Rhodes Park sentencing

The Justice Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster welcomes the Gauteng High Court sentencing against Admore Ndlovu, Thabo Nkala and Mduduzi Mathibela who were found guilty of guilty of murder, rape and robbery. The trio were sentenced to four life sentences each on Friday, 31 March 2017.

In 2015 the trio drowned two men and gang raped their partners and robbed them of their belongings at Rhodes Park.

Statement on Cabinet meeting of 29 March 2017

Cabinet met on Wednesday, 29 March 2017 at the Union Buildings. President Jacob Zuma chaired the Cabinet meeting, which was postponed to later in the afternoon, to enable members to attend the funeral of struggle stalwart Mr Ahmed Kathrada.

The meeting took place as the country moves from Human Rights Month and commemorating sacrifices in our struggle for democracy towards celebrating Freedom Month which saw the first democratic elections in 1994 give birth to freedom and constitutional democracy in South Africa.

Government saddened by death of struggle stalwart, Ahmed Mohamed Kathrada

Government is deeply saddened by the death of struggle stalwart, Ahmed Mohamed Kathrada and joins the millions of South African in extending its deepest condolences to his friends and family.

Government said that the passing on of the revolutionary was a great loss for South Africa. Kathrada was one of the accused in the famous Rivonia Trial and played an instrumental role in the fight against apartheid.

President Jacob Zuma reconstitutes the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Communication

President Jacob Zuma has reconstituted the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on Information and Publicity.

The IMC is responsible for championing and coordinating the work of government with regards to communicating government programmes.

The IMC will now be called the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Communication and will be chaired by the President assisted by the Minister of Communications who will be responsible for the overall coordination of the communication function as per her portfolio.
