1. Implementation of key government programmes
1.1. Cabinet deliberated on the fourth quarter progress reports of the implementation of the government Programme of Action (PoA) and the outcomes. Government is making progress by addressing challenges and intervening to close the gaps in the implementation of the PoA.

Government has noted that the sporadic violent protests are not confined only to the City of Tshwane but in other places in the country.

Government condemns in the strongest terms the outbreak of violence and destruction of property which has occurred in areas in the City of Tshwane. Government appeals for calm in all areas around the City of Tshwane and the peaceful resolution of differences.
Acting Director-General of GCIS, Donald Liphoko said: “There can be no issue which cannot be resolved through democratic processes and dialogue. Members of the public are encouraged to use channels available to raise their concerns.

1.1. We have noted the reviews by international rating agencies Fitch, Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s, which reaffirmed South Africa’s investment grade credit rating and maintained its stable outlook. The rating reviews affirm the continuing work by government to turn the economy around and give the country the necessary space to continue implementing its intervention plans.

The registration for the Set-top-Boxes for Broadcasting Digital Migration moved to another level in April when the department decided to kick-start door to door registration process for qualifying indigent households.
Qualifying residents of Kwaggafontein in Mpumalanga are set to be the latest beneficiaries of government-subsidised set-top-boxes.
