A two-day Print Media Transformation Colloquium starting on 25 August 2016 at Freedom Park will bring together key players in the media industry in consultation on the sector’s transformation, accountability and diversity priorities.
The colloquium, hosted by Minister of Communications Faith Muthambi, will take the form of panel discussions and commissions so that different views, interests and a range of voices will be heard.

The Presidency has received media queries about the deliberations of the Cabinet Lekgotla on the reform of state owned entities, in particular work currently underway to establish a Presidential SOCs Coordinating Council. Yesterday the Minister in the Presidency responsible for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Jeff Radebe, briefed the nation on the deliberations of the Cabinet Lekgotla which took place last week.

Cabinet held its Lekgotla from 16 to 19 August 2016 at Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria.
The August 2016 Cabinet Lekgotla marked the halfway point of the Fifth Administration’s term of office.
Cabinet Lekgotla took time to congratulate South Africa for a peaceful, free and fair Local Government Election that took place on the 3rd of August 2016.

President Jacob Zuma has declared a Special Official Funeral for the former Minister of Sport and Recreation, the late Reverend Arnold Makhenkesi Stofile, who passed on Monday, 16 August 2016 at his home in Alice, in the Eastern Cape Province.
The burial of Reverend Stofile will take place on Thursday, 25 August 2016 at Fort Hare University in Alice.

Caster Semenya gave the world a sterling performance as she broke the national record and breezed through the finish line in the 800m final at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and took gold. Government congratulates Semenya on her outstanding achievement in which she finished the race in 1:55: 28.

Government calls on all South Africans to rally behind Caster Semenya ahead of the 800m final at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Semenya crossed the line in a time of 1 minute 58.15 seconds to qualify with the fastest time from the semi-final heats.

Government congratulates the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for winning a Standard Bank Top Women Award in the category of Top Gender Empowered Government Departments. The department’s win was announced at the gala dinner event at Emperors Palace on Thursday, 18 August.
The prestigious award goes to the government department that clearly and effectively demonstrates the highest level of gender empowerment, from staff to suppliers, through its programmes and policies.
