In 1994, South Africa was born as a new nation embracing a multicultural heritage. This year marks the 20 year milestone since government declared Heritage Day as an opportunity to encourage all citizens to observe and celebrate their diverse cultural heritage.

Deputy Minister of Communications, Ms Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will, on Monday 19 September 2016, officially launch the Annual ‘Thusong Service Centre Week’ in Mossel Bay’s Thusong Service Centre, Western Cape.

The Deputy Minister will be joined by Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr John Jeffery at the opening event.

The Annual ‘Thusong Service Centre Week’ was piloted in September 2014 and highlights government services offered to communities across the country.

1. Implementation of key government programmes
1.1. Cabinet is encouraged by the growth in the gross domestic product (GDP) of 3.3% in the second quarter of 2016; released by Statistics South Africa. The 8.1% increase in manufacturing and 11.8% in mining and quarrying demonstrates the resilience of the economy in this tough economic environment. The GDP grew by R25 billion more than the first quarter of 2016 to an estimated R1 068 billion.
