The Government Communication and Information System in partnership with Agape Youth Movement will host a webinar on the importance of Media literacy. The webinar forms part of the commemoration of the 45th anniversary of Black Wednesday which was commemorated on the 19th October 2022.

New dates for collection of media accreditation: Presidential handover of certificate of recognition to Amazulu King, 26 to 28 Oct

Government wishes to advise members of the media that due to unforeseen technical glitches, the dates for collecting accreditation ahead of the Presidential Handover of the Certificate of Recognition to AmaZulu King have changed.  The new dates are:

Government saddened by death of anti-apartheid activist, Father Albert Nolan

Government sends its deepest condolences to the family of anti-apartheid activist and internationally renowned theologian, Father Albert Nolan. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday.

Father Nolan was a dedicated South African Catholic priest, who challenged religious views and reasons for apartheid to exist. His life was dedicated to the struggle for democracy and the attainment of human rights in South Africa.

Members of the media who have successfully applied for accreditation to cover the Presidential Imbizo in Upington, Northern Cape Province are advised to collect accreditation cards as follows:

Dates: 18 to 20 October 2022
Time: 09h00 - 18h00
Venue: Tol Speelman Civic Centre, Upington

NB: Members of the media are advised to bring along their Press cards and ID or Passport when collecting accreditation cards. In addition, each applicant is required to personally collect the accreditation at the stated venue.

The Inter-Ministerial Task Team on the certificate handover will visit Moses Mabhida Stadium 

On the 17th October 2022, the   Inter-Ministerial Task Team (IMTT) coordinating the ceremony to handover a certificate of recognition to King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini will visit the Moses Mabhida Stadium. 

The certificate handover ceremony is  scheduled for 29 October 2022.
